The webinar will introduce the Marine Mammals Management Toolkit, an innovative tool for effectively managing marine mammals in and around MPAs.

The Marine Mammals Management Toolkit is an online resource designed to help MPA managers and practitioners to better incorporate marine mammals into MPA management plans. It contains 4 components (Factsheets, Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), Good Practices and Community of Practice). It will provide MPA managers with tools and resources to support marine mammal management and conservation.

Le jumelage de mammifères marins, qui fait part du projet de gouvernance des océans financé par l’Union européenne, a le plaisir d’organiser un webinaire en collaboration avec le Secrétariat de la convention d’Abidjan et le Partenariat Régional pour la Conservation de la zone côtière et Marine (PRCM).

Le webinaire présentera la boîte à outils de gestion des mammifères marins (développée par jumelage de mammifères marins) en tant qu’outil innovant pour une gestion efficace des mammifères marins dans et autour des AMP. L’objectif de la boite à outils est de contribuer à renforcer les capacités techniques des gestionnaires d’AMP en partageant connaissances, expertises et bonnes pratiques.

Afin de guider une gestion efficace des mammifères marins et de soutenir les gestionnaires d’AMP, la boîte à outils de gestion des mammifères marins contient quatre éléments clés : des fiches d’information ; Outil d’auto-évaluation (SAT) ; bonnes pratiques et une communauté de pratique.

The workshop will be hosted at the 76th Annual Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute.

This workshop aims to bring together the CAMAC partners and other Caribbean stakeholders working on fisheries, megafauna conservation, and environmental education, to discuss and validate the major outputs of CAMAC phase 1. These outputs (review of available information, partnership building and identification of protocols and needs for phase 2) will first be presented and the attendees will then split into 4 thematic round tables to discuss and validate the protocols for phase 2.

The 2023 Annual Meeting of the Marine Mammal Commission will be held November 14-15 in Washington, D.C., celebrating 50 years of the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act and drawing attention to national marine mammal science and management issues. This meeting will use case studies of threatened and endangered marine mammals to explore national-level issues related to stock assessment, health surveillance and other management needs in a changing climate. The meeting will be public and open to all.

Virtual participation will be possible through a Zoom Webinar, with details to be released prior to the meeting.
